CARMEN MAYO, artistic director

With an experience of more than 30 years in chamber music, Carmen is a pianist and pedagogue, developing this last facet as chamber music professor at the Superior Conservatory of Music of Valencia since 1990.

She was born in León, where she began her music studies, she obtained her higher degree in Piano and Chamber Music at the Royal Conservatory of Madrid, later expanding her training with various teachers who guided her musical development.

Interested in the various pedagogical currents, she received a scholarship at Carnegie Mellow University (Pittsburgh, USA) where she delved into Comparative Musical Methodology. As a pianist, she has given recitals both as a soloist and with various groups and has recorded for Radio 2 Clásica, RNE.

Her interest in different musical communication activities led her to direct and present (from 2005 to 2008) a radio program dedicated to chamber music: "Sala de Cámara", on ACM Radio in Valencia. She has given master classes in various Spanish and foreign conservatories and institutions: Conservatorio "Santa Cecilia" (Rome), Hochschule für Musik of Mannheim, Conservatorio "C. Monteverdi" (Bolzano), Escola Superior de Música (Lisboa), Conservatorio "San Pietro a Majella" (Naples).

She has performed musical management and consulting on different projects, coordinating and directing chamber music cycles with various institutions. She is a member of ECMTA (European Chamber Music Teachers' Association).

She has directed the International Chamber Music Festival "Fundación MonteLeón" since its creation in 2010, a project that she combines with she pedagogical activity and concerts.
